How to Change a Product's Order Point

Description: These instructions will show you how to adjust a product's Order Point. Note there is also a link to a video provided below.

You are not able to directly change a product’s Order point.  In other words, you cannot just say ‘I want to change the Order point from 12 cartons to 15 cartons.’  This is because a product’s Order Point is generated from the Average.  Therefore, you must go about changing the Average in order to adjust the Order Point. Follow the steps below to adjust the Average in order to change the Order Point.

1) Get to the K3S_1040 screen for the product who's Order Point you want to adjust.

Example: the product we are working with below has an Order Point of 12 cartons and an Average of 30.44 cartons.  Our goal is to increase the Order Point to 16 cartons.

2) From the K3S_1040 screen, press F21=Recalculate product SOQ values.  This will cause a window to appear with an SOQ Simulator as shown below. This simulator will allow you to plug in different values for the Average to see how it will adjust the Order Point.

3) Plug a number into the Avg field and press ENTER.  Then look at the Order Point field to see how it changed after you adjusted the Avg.

Example: Below is a ‘Before’ picture.  See that we are starting with an Avg of 30.44 and an Order Point of 12 cartons.

Example: Below is an ‘After’ picture.  See that if the Avg is changed to 40.00 cartons and the user presses ENTER, it calculates an Order Point of  16 cartons.  Thus, if we want this product to have an Order point of 16 cartons, we need to change the Average to 40.00

4) The SOQ Simulator lets you play around with numbers as much as you like.  You can keep entering new values for the Avg and pressing ENTER to see what the Order point would change to. No values you place into the simulator will become permanent with the actions described above. Once you have found a value that you like, press F12=Return to exit the Simulator.

5) You will now be back to the K3S_1040 screen.  You need to get to the product’s K3S_3030 Product history screen in order to make any changes.  To do this, press F2=History

6) You are now on the K3S_3030 screen, as shown below, where you can change the product’s Average in order to generate the desired Order point value.

Example: See below that we have changed the Average to 40.00 (from the original Average of 30.44) because it will give us the desired Order point of 16 cartons.

7) After changing the Average you will need to Recalculate in order to see the new Order point appear today.  If you do not Recalculate today you will have to wait for a night job to run before you can see the new Order point for this product.  To do the Recalculation, keep pressing F12=Previous until you get back to the K3S_1020 screen.

8) Once you are on the K3S_1020 screen, as shown below, press F21=Recalculate.

9) A window will appear like the one pictured below. Press F21=Recalculate again and you will return to the K3S_1020 screen.

10) You will see a message at the bottom of the K3S_1020 screen that says ‘Order has been recalculated.’  See example below.

11) You are now ready to view the changes to this product’s Order point.  This is possible by proceeding to the product’s K3S_1040 screen.

See below our product shows an Order point of 16 cartons on the K3S_1040 screen.
